Kia Ora, Welcome to Jerusalem Whānau, the senior part of our primary school for students in Years 4–6 (ages 8–11). This is a special time where children grow as leaders, deepen their faith and develop the skills they need for the next stage of their learning journey.
Our Jerusalem team is full of energy, kindness and faith. We believe that God’s grace is all around us and that by living like Jesus in our words and actions, we can make a real difference in the world. Every day, we work together to reveal God’s wisdom through our learning, our friendships and the way we serve others.
As part of our Catholic faith journey, we explore the Loved (Aroha)-Y4 and Inspired (Oho Ako) -Y5-6 phase of the curriculum. This means our learners are encouraged to think more deeply about their faith, make connections to their own lives and take action for good in their communities. We talk, pray and reflect together- learning that the words and actions of others can inspire us to pray and live out our faith too.
In Jerusalem, students take on more responsibility and enjoy many opportunities to shine, whether it’s through leadership roles, school events, service projects or classroom learning. We focus on developing critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and self-management in a caring and supportive environment.
Our whakataukī reminds us that we are stronger together:
“Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takimano.”
My strength is not that of an individual, but that of the collective.
As a whānau, we celebrate each other’s gifts, walk alongside one another in faith and grow as a community of hope, joy and service.
